THE PANDEMIC HAS MADE US STRONGER. MIGAM.ORG PLANS TO GET LISTED ON THE STOCK EXCHANGE AND PROVIDE SERVICES FOR 111,789 CUSTOMERS

Since the beginning of 2020, companies are facing a great deal of uncertainty and unpredictability in the market. It is necessary to switch to new technologies and innovative solutions. The web is now the most important sales channel, especially in industries most affected by the lockdown. For many sectors and in the case of many products, getting in touch with a consultant before going through with the purchase is still a must.

Migam is a company known for providing communication accessibility solutions for the Deaf people. In order to communicate fully and effectively, people with hearing impairment need the help of Polish Sign Language (PJM) interpreters. Thanks to modern technology, this interpreter can now be easily reached online.
It is worth noting that the word Deaf is a term used by the Deaf people themselves. And spelt with a capital letter is a recognition of the linguistic and cultural autonomy of the deaf. The word deaf, without capital “D”, is perceived negatively – because it implies that the person cannot hear, but also that he or she is mute, i.e. unable to speak. Deaf people, even if they have difficulty speaking in Polish, also use their language. Sign language.

“Thanks to us, Deaf people can make calls”, says Pawel Potakowski – marketing director of Migam and head of the Barrier-Free Workspace Agency www.pracabezbarier.eu. “They can call the hotlines of our customers. They can be served in shops and offices and, most importantly, can finally work, because the interpreter is always with them, right there in their pocket should they need to communicate with someone”.

Migam’s technology allows one to connect to an interpreter from any device, without the need for installation. There is no need to wait, make an appointment in advance, or ask a family member for help. Deaf people can run all their errands on their own.
As of September 6 of this year, a fine may be imposed on 111,789 public entities for lack of accessibility solutions (in this case, the Sign Language interpreter). This can be the result of a complaint regarding lack of accessibility filed under the provisions of the Act on Providing Accessibility to Persons with Special Needs, which already is binding. This is a significant change – previously it was only suggested and recommended that Deaf people needed accessibility solutions to be provided. Now, for the lack of an online interpreter, such entities may be ordered to pay a fine of up to PLN 10,000.

Migam’s development presents new opportunities but also new challenges. The company plans to get listed on the stock exchange in 2022 and is now issuing shares on the Beesfund platform. The reason for this, among other things, is to raise additional funds for internationalisation into foreign markets and the implementation of automation processes for the Migam Interpreter and Ommi.io services.
